Well, I did finally make a chicken like I'd been promising myself, but little was I to know that it would start a fight. Now I thought I was making it for myself, but my kids had other ideas and both of them claimed it as their own - to the extent that it was nearly torn apart in a tug of war. I did of course promise to make another one a.s.a.p. but my son was insistent that he had first dibs on it because it was made from left-overs of 'his' quilt. In fact they were left-overs of left-overs because it was what remained after making this small quilt. Eventually they came to an agreement between them and my daughter will get the next one. You would think they were toddlers, not nearly 10 and 16!

Before all of this I did start to cut some strips from Christmas fabrics to make some Christmas Chickens, either for presents or as a useful standby for the Christmas Fair at school. You can never have too many chickens, it seems.

I got the borders on the recycled blue quilt (must think of a better name) but it might be a while before I gear myself up to start quilting it. I've had to wait until now to get a photo as it has been raining buckets with thunder and lightning for most of the day. Sun's out now though.

A. If the quilts wants to be called "recycled" who is to complain...

B. At least the kids like your chicken...

C. I need to find and share my cat pincushions - they could have been chickens, but the beak became ear number one and the comb was replces with ear number two and a tail was inserted in yet another seam.

If your kids are fighting that much over the chicken, I think you should take it away from them. And to avoid future arguments, you should just ship it over to me. LOL

Your recycled quilt is really beautiful. It has such intricate piecing, so it is calming in an exciting way.

I love that your kids both want your chicken. You know if you had made it for them to begin with they would have thought you were nuts! Isn't it funny how popular that little chicken is all over the blogs? It is everyone's favorite! Once again I must say that your blue quilt is dynamite!

I just love your chicken - no wonder a fight ensued! Wanted to make my own little chicken this weekend, but it will have to wait another week. Thanks for sharing the picture of your cute little one!

The 'chicken fight' is such a cute story. Love your recycled quilt -- I think it's a good name. It will tell folks what lovely thinks they can make from recycling *s*

How fun that the kids really love the chicken ... not so fun that they wanted to fight over it (that's the sort of thing that happens at my house). More can be made ... you may end up with families of chickens!
I was just thinking I may make one with larger log cabins, and stiffen them with some kind of interfacing ... I'm sure Cam would love some pet chickens!
*hugs*

how fun about your kids fighting over that chicken! It's kind of neat, in a way, that they want the stuff you make-and I agree with your son, it did come from his quilt! :)
Still love that blue quilt--the minute I saw it, I thought "Blue Rhapsody", don't know why--probably the name of another quilt, but that's the first thought that came to mind.
