Hour Glass Quilt Top

I finished a top! Yay for me! Can't you just tell it's Easter and I've been on holiday over a week? I've had a lovely time doing whatever I wanted whenever I wanted - no deadlines to meet, no 'to do' lists to worry about. Just a bit of crafting here, a bit of spring cleaning there (but not too much - got to pace myself, you know) with a bit of reading in between.

This is the cot quilt I'm making for my friend's new baby. (If you click for a close up, excuse the stray threads but the sun was out so I had to run outside to photograph it whilst the going was good - I will snip them off later.) Had the devil of a job to avoid the same fabrics being too close to each other - I just gave up in the end and hoped for the best.

I'm hoping it won't take too long to quilt - I'm just going to do nice, simple, straight lines. Next up will be a quilt for DD to take to university in the autumn - she has requested it especially so I can't disappoint her. It reminds me of when I went to university and my Nan crocheted me an afghan to put on my bed - it really brightened up my room and everyone liked it ... seems like a long time ago now.

I just adore the traditional blocks rendered simply. Did you use scraps or buy fabrics for this quilt. It's simply gorgeous!

Beautiful! I just love scrap quilts and especially using plaids and shirting type fabrics. So old fashioned and comfortable looking.

love this quilt.
I tried clicking on the quilt love looking at fabrics! and it did not enlarge.
What quilt pattern did your DD request?
I have one going off next year and she has requested a brick quilt to take to school with her. I made her one when she was 6 now its too small!
I will start it over the summer

This is a fantastic quilt! Love the colors and the scrappiness! Reminds me of the bowtie quilt in Quilts, Quilts, Quilts, if anyone knows that one!

Wonderful colours. Does it really matter if some of the same fabrics are too close to each other? I don't think so!

It is gorgeous. I'm not normally a fan of red, white and blue quilts but this is defifitely an exception - fabulous !

It looks wonderful! I know what you mean about getting things done in the break...only been back to work and routine for 2 days and already I feel like I'm chasing my tail.

It looks wonderful. An hourglass quilt is another quilt on my long list of quilts that I want to make.

Ooooh - delicious! - this is back to the old Fiona we know and love. Keep thinking about an hourglass quilt but all those bits matching at the corners put me off - you know how I hate piecing
