Time for Tea

Next up on my list of projects - a tea cosy. My team get into the office at 8.00 and make a pot of tea. Now, whilst there is enough in the pot for me, I can't get in any earlier than 8.10 as I have to drop my son off and the tea in the pot is lukewarm by then. So I made a tea cosy - keeps it nice and hot and waiting for me when I get in.
I can also reveal my finished blue quilt - I was getting heartily tired of it by the end so the borders just got straight lines quilted on them. It covers the ugliest sofa in the world - I would show a picture of it but the deep red buttoned velour and fringe round the bottom would be offensive to many of you. (As it is to me when the quilt rides up and you can see the offending fringe peeping out beneath). Also excuse the bare plaster on the walls - the sofa is in our kitchen and we haven't finished the redecorating yet.

Your blue quilt was worth the effort! It is lovely.
I know what you mean about getting tired of them once the quilting comes around!
Nice cheery teacosy!

I love the colour. Its great, as is the tea cosy. I never thought about making one. I've got a lovely tea pot with strawberries on which I never use as I can't keep the tea warm. You've given me an idea.

What do you mean please excuse the plaster on the walls? I think the yellow looks great with the blue. it is yellow isn't it?

Very cute tea cosy and hopefully they'll use it!

Well done on the finish. We have the same offensive chair (not red velour, but a mustard-ish colour). I have a piece of fabric draped over it, but saw some patchwork upostery recently which looked great. Too much like hard work perhaps though.

Looks like the perfect sofa cover! Just right for sitting for a chat with the cook *s*

Quilts are great to cover horrible sofas (especially when they're as lovely as this one! The restained blue border is the perfect edge for the busy quilt.) They are relatively stiff and don't move around annoyingly like throws.

A great quilt covering an ugly sofa. I love the squares on point and its blue shades. The plaids you use on the tea cosy are lovely, I hope it keeps your tea hot every morning.

Your blue quilt looks great Fiona - worth all the effort and yes tea-cosies are just the best - perfect for that second cuppa if you're not the last one in :o)

The quilt is lovely and so is the tea cozy. Love those door stops as well! As far as not getting much done since Christmas?!? Um -- it looks like you've gotten more done than I have :0).

Love your quilt - and great idea to use its beauty to cover up something that you don't like!

Enjoy your hot tea!

Cheers!
