I am addicted - after seeing Patti's 'Mile a Minute Tutorial' I just had to try it out. I have a bag full of strings that I need to use up ('cos otherwise they will multiply and become two bags).
These are true strings - button bands and collars off shirts, hems off skirts I've cut up for the fabric and uneven pieces from straightening yardage so hopefully the blocks will come out at least a little bit wonky.
I'm going to try not to use any of my evenly cut 2 and 2 1/2 inch strips - though I might renege on this if the blocks all start to look a bit samey and I want a bit more brightness and variety in the fabrics. I can make 10 X 6 1/2 inch blocks in an evening and it's nice, relaxing mindless sewing with no cutting to do - bliss. Thanks Patti!

That's lovely - I'm going to have a look at the tutorial straight away! I have been doing one from Melly and Me that I love but it needs to be pre-drawn onto interfacing which takes a lot of time! The colours look great! Lucy

Hi again! I've just read the tutorial but being fairly thick at the moment can't work out how they turn into log cabins - what am I missing?

These blocks are just the ticket when you've been preoccupied with other concerns - they look great and what a good way to use up those skinny bits and pieces from charity shop garments :o)

What great blocks! I really need to get my scraps out. And finish my mother's mother's day present. And start my mil's Christmas present. And...hmmm, think this one is going to have to wait a bit, but they look like such fun!

Love the blocks. If you want them a little more 'wonky' you can tilt your ruler when you trim them to exact size required :)

How fun to see that Sainsburys bag full of scraps. After 3 weeks in the UK, we came to love those orange bags.

Got to love that mindless sewing, you can get so much more done when you don't have to make decisions all the time. I love the little doll quilts you've made, and your allotment looks wonderful too, I love growing veggies.
