A couple of blocks

Not a very productive or pleasurable weekend (and I didn't even get round to doing my tax return, which was what I'd got planned). A series of unexpected events and requests meant that I had very little time to myself or to do what I'd been looking forward to.
But anyway, I am getting very tired of cutting the pieces for the star quilt so one thing I did do was to dip into the bags with the cut pieces and pick out the pieces for a couple of blocks. I'm suspecting this top might just be quite a long term project. I didn't time it, but I have a sneaking suspicion that each block is taking me about an hour to make at the moment. I know I'll get faster the more I do, but I'm left with a sense of bemused wonder at the speed that quilters like Anne and Bonnie work at. Mind you, I did make two string blocks as leaders/enders whilst I was making them, so I suppose you could have the time if you didn't count them.

Hi fiona, I love your star blocks, but yes, I do think it will be a slow project due to the number of pieces in each block. But if you decide to just enjoy the process, instead of worrying about the time, that will help..*VBS*
The pic of the antique cutie, is just wonderful. I don't think it's a quilt I would ever make, but it's gorgeous!!
And I'd die for a pair of those slippers...with polka dots even!! I think it was a great find!! Hugs, Finn

Long term, perhaps, but worth the wait. These blocks are just lovely and I can't wait to see the quilt as it develops!

The blocks are very complex so it's no wonder it takes you an hour each. It will be a gorgeous quilt when it's done.

Fiona - it's not always the hare who wins the race! I love your green and purple blocks and would never in a million years have the patience to do a second one never mind enough for a quilt - it never ceases to amaze me how the same block can look so totally different with alternative fabric placement. They're really lovely and I look forward to seeing them all eventually

Great blocks. The color choices are beautiful. Lots of detail. I admire your patience. How's the new job?

They may be a bit complicated -- so many pieces -- but the result is gorgeous. Hang in there. It will be worth it in the end.

Hi there Fiona, your blocks are just wonderful, I love the colours. I'm always amazed at how productive some people are. I do quite a bit, but I have plenty of time on my hands, some people are just super fast ... I can tend to daydream ...
Have a great week
*hugs*

I love your stars block, Fiona!!! You are right the time it too quickly passes, and a lot of times our hobbies are left for last :)))
Her little slipper sockses are adorable, you have made a good choice :)))

Fiona, these blocks are so pretty. I really like green and purple together, and have a UFO with those colors that I need to get back to. Don't worry about being slow. I'm slower than you are! This is a hobby and it is supposed to be fun. There are lots of pieces in this block, and your quilt will be stunning when it is finished.
