I was in Germany for 2 weeks back in the '80s, and I loved it.
I like the wonky houses, but my anal side tends toward the one on the right. I'm trying to beat the anal side down, so I do like the one on the left too.Eileenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11791592886458322904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27685457.post-1155618230816393412006-08-15T06:03:00.000+01:002006-08-15T06:03:00.000+01:00glad to see you caught a dose of the wonky house f...glad to see you caught a dose of the wonky house fever...they look great!Cherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10292382302931335587noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27685457.post-1155475841395963452006-08-13T14:30:00.000+01:002006-08-13T14:30:00.000+01:00I love the houses! I love looking at the quilts, but always long for a little bit more about the women. Covered Wagon Women may just be the one to give that information.
Good luck with the stitching. I am such a fan of handwork -- I can be a good cheerleader should you need one.Libbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17872055894285312153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27685457.post-1155397858820286002006-08-12T16:50:00.000+01:002006-08-12T16:50:00.000+01:00Hi Fiona, I've probably missed you by now, but I'm...Hi Fiona, I've probably missed you by now, but I'm going to leave my "happy trip to Berlin" wishes anyway..*VBS*

The book looks wonderful, I'll be curious to hear if you like it. I have bought quite a few over the years about the western movement and woman's diaries and journals. It always fascinates me and it seems that quilts were part of nearly everyones lives back then. So while the book isn't specially like The Quilt That Walked To Golden, quilting will be a part of it.
Glad you are considering the hand stitching..*VBS*Finnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17677133672404343036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27685457.post-1155383881104889042006-08-12T12:58:00.000+01:002006-08-12T12:58:00.000+01:00Have fun this weekend. I was thinking I wonder what kind of weather we'd be having for the sky to look like that!
With regard to Tonya's comment ... I have the Treasures in the Trunk book too, and I just love it. Like you, I love the stories that go with the quilts. I will have to look for the Covered Wagon Women book ... maybe next month ...
*hugs*
Tazzie
:-)Tazziehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11872390174069150617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27685457.post-1155365592662441452006-08-12T07:53:00.000+01:002006-08-12T07:53:00.000+01:00The houses look great - fabulous bright fun.book r...The houses look great - fabulous bright fun.

book recommendation for you:

"Treasures in the Trunk: Quilts of the Oregon Trail" by Mary Bywater Cross

Wheee, when I just looked up the info on the book, I found it for a great used price, so I just bought it. Blanket stitch by hand can go very quickly when using enbroidery thread and stitches that are about 1/8" apart.Pattihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07125491177774966237noreply@blogger.com
